I helped pass out over 400 turkeys at South Dekalb Mall the Saturday before Thanksgiving. I’ve been in Atlanta for almost 5 years now, and it becomes increasingly obvious how small it is every day. I like to donate to different causes all the time, but I’ve been on myself to volunteer more. I honestly had to look no further than Instagram for a few opportunities.
I know @scotty.smart through a few mutual friends in Atlanta. He messaged me on IG asking if I would like to donate to HugLife Cares and the NAACP’s 6th Annual Turkey Drive, I said of course, and inquired about volunteering. The rest is history. It was a beautiful sight to see the many volunteers gathered as I drove up to a line that was already about 200 deep. There was a local radio station broadcasting live, and local celebrity rapper; Street Bud and his team participated while also giving away shoes to those in need. I don’t know about you, but every time I’ve ever volunteered it was a life changing experience. Being of help, be it during the holidays or any day will make you appreciate everything you have and more. I plan on interviewing the founders of HugLife Cares in the very near future. Stay tuned for that interview. In the meantime, follow @scotty.smart, and @huglifecares on Instagram to stay informed about upcoming events. If you would like to volunteer or donate to the cause visit www.huglifecares.org
